2020 reading list
I set myself a TBR of 13 books for August. As of this writing (August 23), I’ve only read five of those books. I’m obviously not going to read eight books in eight days, but, rather than sink down into a quagmire of despair and self-loathing, I decided to make a list of the books I want to read before the end of the year. Next year I’ll be organized better. Maybe.
Books will be crossed out as I finish them. This is by no means a guarantee that I won’t wander off and start reading other books, but generally I’m pretty good about following my own lists. I only have four months to read the 16 books I’ll need to meet my stretch goal of 86, so I cut myself off at 20. Also I won’t necessarily be reading in this order. Look, the important thing is the books, okay?
Updates
- 10/11/20: I have now added Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth because I finally caved and bought them today after at least a month of stiff resistance and I am completely uninterested in waiting till next year to crack them open. I hate myself.
- 10/13/20: Well, I mean, I just bought Black Sun and now I have to read it…also it occurred to me that maybe I should add my buddy read books to the list, with the result that I have scheduled myself to read 18 books in 2.5 months. That means I’m going to have two weeks to read another six books before October ends, which isn’t technically undoable, but this is going to be tight. On the other hand, I’m planning to finish The Poppy War and Mexican Gothic this week, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
- 10/19/20: With The Poppy War finished, I have officially hit my stretch goal of 60 books without mangas!!! (The stretch goal was originally 86 to accommodate 25 Soul Eaters and Spy x Family 1, but then I went and read more mangas. Go figure.) I don’t have a second stretch goal, but now we’re going to find out how much more I can read in the 2.5 months we have left in the year.
- 11/27/20: I OFFICIALLY HIT 100 BOOKS FOR THE YEAR I might cry ;___;
- 12/3/20: My Hallowed Hunt buddy read got pushed back to next year, which is incredibly convenient for me because now I get to boot it off my 2020 TBR and insert Addie LaRue in its place. 😀
